The May 18 Press Awards
The May 18 Press Awards aims to commemorate the efforts of journalists who covered the truth of the May 18 democratic uprising press under the control of the media by the military authorities and retain the spirit of the press. These awards are co-hosted by the May 18 Foundation and Gwangju Jeonnam Press Association.

- To appreciate journalists who covered the truth of the May 18 Democratic Movement and encourage early career journalists who did an outstanding work in media related to the May 18
- To resist against the historical distortion of the May 18 Democratic Movement
- To remember that many journalists at the time tried to report the truth in 1980 and inherit the spirit that laid the foundation for democratic development with a mission and passion.

- Photo Journalism, video journalism, documentary
- New media : card news, user created contents
- Achievement Award
- Awardees are given the opportunity to accompany and cover the Foundation’s international event.
