2023 Special Prize winner, the Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Associations(CCITTA) donated $10,000 of its entire special prize money to the Foundations Gwangju Democracy Fund.

2023 Gwangju Prize for Human Rights Committee selected the Coordination Council of Iranian Teacher Trade Association, which dedicated to the promotion of democracy and human rights in Iran through education despite environmental hardship, as the winner of the 2023 Gwangju Prize for Human Rights Special Prize.

They delivered a official letter expressing their hope that the prize money could be used to promote democracy and human rights. The Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Associations said it believes in the transformative impact of education on individuals and communities and is pleased to contribute to the Foundations efforts to advance these principles.

Meanwhile, May 18 Gwangju Democracy Fund Project is for activities that support and advocate for democracy and human rights in the name of Gwangju and the May 18 Democratization Movement.
