- Guns and Swords Can’t Block Myanmar’s Spring

There is no winter in Myanmar. However, the people of Myanmar are currently experiencing a harsher time than winter. The brutality of the Myanmar military is unprecented anywhere in the world. Since the military coup on February 1, 2021 the confirmed death tll has surpassed 850, and nearly 5,000 people have been arrested. undreds of thousands of people have been displaced and living as refugee.

Despite these difficult times, Myanmar’s people n resistance. On the contrary, they are struggling throughout the country and embarrasses the military. Although the Internet and the media, journalists and citizens on the streets are documenting and reporting the struggles in Myanmar everyday, and they have been fighting against the guns, tanks, and fighter jets of the military for more than 130 days.

The international community is unanimously condemning the atrocities of the Myanmar military, and the Korean people are also activly supporting the Myanmar for democracy. aricula, the people of Gwangju, who suffered from in May 1980,formed MyanmarGwangju Solidarity on March 11, 2021 to inform the international community of the struggle of the people risked their lives and to form solidarity with them. Additionally, people Gwangju are raising fund to support the pro-democracy struggle in Myanmar.

A regime that aims its guns at the people will never last long. We support the great struggle of the people of Myanmar against the military coupdestroyed the constituional order. As the resistance of May 1980 in Gwangju achived democratization in Korea, we believe that the struggle of the people in Myanmar in 2021 will open a new chapter for Myanmar’s democracy. We will spread the word to the international community their struggle and be with their path democratization and to end the military dictatorship the country.
