International Day of Democracy

We Want Democracy in Myanmar!

For more than 220 days since the February 1st military coup in Myanmar, we have been witnessing grave human rights violations. The military regime has massacred more than 1,000 citizens and detained more than 7,900 citizens. People’s daily lives have been disrupted by the military oppression and further aggravated by the rapid spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The civil society of South Korea supports the democratic uprising of the Myanmar people and condemns the military regime and demands the following from the military regime of Myanmar and the international community on the occasion of the September 15th International Day of Democracy. 

The Military Junta of Myanmar should:

a. Stop all acts of indiscriminate killing and the oppression of citizens, and release those who were arrested, detained, and prosecuted ‘immediately and unconditionally’.

b. Stop sexual violence against women and punish the perpetrators.

c. Relinquish all power and cede all government authority to the elected democratic government.

The International Community needs to:

a. Recognize the National Unity Government (NUG) as the legitimate government of Myanmar and implement the Responsibility to Protect (R2P) in Myanmar.

b. Provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Myanmar in response to food shortages and the COVID-19 pandemic.

c. Immediately stop the investment and funding of international capital that cooperates with the military regime and military-related enterprises of Myanmar.

We whole-heartedly support Myanmars democratic uprising and democratization, while working for justice and human dignity for all mankind.

“အပြည်ပြည်ဆိုင်ရာဒီမိုကရေစီနေ့” 

မြန်မာနိုင်ငံတွင် ဒီမိုကရေစီရရှိရေးကို လိုလားပါသည်။ 

မြန်မာနိုင်ငံတွင် ဖေဖော်ဝါရီလ ၁ ရက်နေ့မှ စတင်ခဲ့သော စစ်အာဏာသိမ်းမှု ရက်ပေါင်း ၂၂၀ ကျော်လာပြီးသည့်အချိန်တွင် အပြစ်မဲ့ပြည်သူ ၁၀၀၀ ကျော် အသတ်ခံခဲ့ရပြီး ၇၉၀၀ ကျော် ဖမ်းဆီးခံခဲ့ရမှုများစသည့် စစ်တပ်၏ ဆိုးရွားအကျည်းတန်လှသော လူ့အခွင့်အရေး ချိုးဖောက်မှုများအား ကျွန်ုပ်တို့ မျက်ဝါးထင်ထင် တွေ့မြင်ခဲ့ရပြီးဖြစ်ပါသည်။ စစ်တပ်၏ ဖိနှိပ်ညှဥ်းပန်းမှုများကြောင့် ပြိုလဲပျက်ဆီးသွားရသည့် ပြည်သူလူထု၏ နေ့စဥ်လူနေမှု ဘဝများကို အလျင်အမြန်ပြန့်ပွားလာသော ကိုဗစ်-19 ကပ်ရောဂါဆိုးကြီးက ထပ်မံ ပို၍ ဆိုးရွားစေခဲ့ပါသည်။   

စစ်အာဏာသိမ်းမှုအား လုံးဝရှုတ်ချပြီး၊ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံသူနိုင်ငံသားများ၏ ဒီမိုကရေစီရရှိရေး လှုပ်ရှားမှုများကို ထောက်ခံလျက်ရှိသော တောင်ကိုရီးယားနိုင်ငံ လူထုအခြေပြုအဖွဲ့အစည်းများ အနေဖြင့် စက်တင်ဘာလ ၁၅ ရက်နေ့တွင် ကျရောက်မည့် အပြည်ပြည်ဆိုင်ရာဒီမိုကရေစီနေ့ အခါသမယတွင် အောက်ပါတို့အား တောင်းဆိုလိုက်သည်။ 

မြန်မာစစ်တပ်အနေဖြင့် 

၁။ အပြစ်မဲ့ပြည်သူတို့အား ရက်စက်စွာ သတ်ဖြတ်ခြင်း၊ ဖိနှိပ်ခြင်း၊ ဖမ်းဆီးချုပ်နှောင်ခြင်း တို့အား ရပ်တန့်ရန်နှင့် ထိန်းသိမ်းထားသော ပြည်သူများအား ချက်ချင်း ချွင်းချက်မရှိ လွှတ်ပေးရန်

၂။ အမျိုးသမီးများအပေါ် လိင်အကြမ်းဖက်မှုများအား ရပ်တန့်ရန် နှင့် ကျူးလွန်သူများအား အပြစ်‌ပေးရန်

၃။ နိုင်ငံတော်အာဏာအား အလုံးစုံစွန့်လွှတ်ပြီး ရွေးကောက်ခံဒီမိုကရေစီအစိုးရအား လွှဲပြောင်းပေးအပ်ရန်

နိုင်ငံတကာအဖွဲ့အစည်းများအနေဖြင့် 

၁။ အမျိုးသားညီညွတ်ရေးအစိုးရ (NUG) အား တရားဝင်အစိုးရအဖြစ် အသိအမှတ်ပြုရန်နှင့် မြန်မာနိုင်ငံတွင် R2P အား အကောင်အထည်ဖော်ရန်

၂။  ကိုဗစ်-19 ကပ်ဘေးအတွင်း မြန်မာနိုင်ငံရှိ ပြည်သူများ၏ စားနပ်ရိက္ခာပြတ်လပ်မှုများ အတွက် လူသားချင်းစာနာထောက်ထားမှု အကူအညီများ ပေးအပ်သွားရန် 

၃။ စစ်တပ်ပိုင်နှင့် စစ်တပ်နှင့်ဆက်နွှယ်သော လုပ်ငန်းများ၌ ထည့်ဝင်လျက်ရှိသော နိုင်ငံတကာရင်းနှီးမြှပ်နှံမှုများနှင့် ငွေကြေးစီးဆင်းမှုများအား ချက်ချင်းရပ်တန့်ရန် 

လူသားအားလုံးအတွက် တရားမျှတမှုနှင့် လူ့အခွင့်အရေးလေးစားမှုအတွက် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့ အစဥ်ကြိုးစားလျက်ရှိပြီး မြန်မာ့ဒီမိုကရေစီအရေး လှုပ်ရှားမှုများနှင့် ဒီမိုကရေစီအရေးတော်ပုံကြီး အား လှိုက်လှဲစွာထောက်ခံလျက်ရှိပါသည်။
