Call for Global NGO Masters’ Program(GNMP) Application
The May 18 Memorial Foundation was founded in 1994 with the precious funds from the May 18 victims, Gwangju citizens, overseas Koreans and Korean citizens in Korea in order to continue and develop the democratic spirit and solidarity of the May 18 Democratization Movement. Global NGO Masters’ Program (GNMP) is fully funded scholarship program. The May 18 Memorial Foundation and the May 18 Institute at Chonnam University offer a master’s program for Global NGO activists with a full scholarship. The GNMP welcomes individuals who are passionately engaged with human rights, democracy, and peace and are eager to become professional NGO workers and leaders.
Eligibility ▶ Having interested in human rights, democracy, and peace ▶ Those who have or are expected to receive a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalents stipulated by regulations ▶ Possessing high English language proficiency in speaking, writing, and reading - TOEFL 530(CBT 197, IBT71), IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2, TEPS 600(NEW TEPS 326), TOEIC 700 or higher - Test scores are only valid for two years after the test date ▶ Should be legally and physically able to study for two years ▶ The nationality of the applicant and the applicant’s parents must be non-Korean (3 people do not have Korean Citizenship)
1. The Foundation will cover; ▶ Round-trip international airfare between his/her home and Korea ▶ Monthly stipend of 800,000KRW ▶ Tuition fees and room & board ▶ Alien card application fees 2. The GNMP student will cover; ▶ Travel costs incurred in his/her own country ▶ Utilities and personal expenses ▶ Health Insurance fees ▶ All immigration related expenses
Requirements 1. Applicants should submit the following documentation: ▶ A complete application form ▶ CV ▶ Personal Statement ▶ A copy of official(Expected) Graduation Certificate from Undergraduate Institution ▶ A copy of official tran from Undergraduate Institution ▶ Official certificate(s) for English language proficiency ▶ Physical examination report (including TB test results) ▶ Certificate(s) of activity in human rights issued by a related organization ▶ A letter of recommendation ▶ A copy of a valid passport for the applicant ▶ 1) Copies of passport for parents or 2) ID page with translated notarization (Both the passport and ID must be filled in with expiration dates.) ▶ Family Relations Certificate
*** After the selection of the Foundation, the passed applicants must submit the original documents to the foundation via airmail. And CNU will be ask you to submit additional documents. (in April) *** All documents should be submitted either in English. Selection Process
▶ Application Deadline: March 27, 2022 ▶ First Screening Results: The 5th week of March (March 28 ~ April 1) ▶ English Proficiency Interview: The 1st week of April (April 4 ~ April 8) - Designated date will be announced individually by email ▶ Final Results: April 12 on the Foundation Website and by email
