The May 18 Memorial Foundation is now recruiting a native English employee to join its International Affairs Department About the May 18 Memorial Foundation The May 18 Memorial Foundation was founded in 1994 with the funds of the May 18 victims, Gwangju citizens, overseas Koreans and Korean citizens in order to continue and develop the democratic spirit and solidarity of the May 18 Democratization Movement. For more information, please visit http://eng.518.org Introduction to the Foundations Works Since its establishment, the May 18 Memorial Foundation has been conducting and expanding many projects to commemorate the spirit and struggle of the May 18 Democratization Movement, to eventually contribute to the peaceful reunification of Korea and to work towards peace and human rights throughout the world. The Foundation has carried out numerous projects in various fields, including organizing commemoration events, granting scholarships, fostering research, disseminating relevant information to the public, publishing relevant materials, dispensing charity and welfare benefits, building international solidarity, and awarding the Gwangju Prize for Human Rights. For more information, please visit http://eng.518.org Job Deion - Oversee and manage all aspects of MayZine, the Foundation’s quarterly web magazine - Manage contributors to ensure deadlines and content/quality are met - Write, edit, and proofread content for all articles - Assist with implementing a production schedule and paginations in coordination with the staff in charge - Monitor human rights issues globally and write reports on them - Manage the Foundation’s English website and its SNS - Proofread and edit official English documents of the Foundation - Be the point of liaison for overseas partners *** Must be reached within 24 hours Qualifications (must) - English native - Holding a BA or above in communications, English, journalism, or a similar subject - Good English writing skills (Accuracy, good in grammar and syntax) - Interpersonal skills (should be able to work efficiently with others) - Computer literate (email/internet, web page, lay-out/design, etc.) - Adaptability of foreign cultures Qualifications (additional) - Good command in Korean (both writing and speaking) - Having at least 1 year experience in publication and/or editing Conditions of Service
