The May 18 Memorial Foundation is now recruiting a native English employee to join its International Affairs Department
About the May 18 Memorial Foundation The May 18 Memorial Foundation was founded in 1994 with the funds of the May 18 victims, Gwangju citizens, overseas Koreans and Korean citizens in order to continue and develop the democratic spirit and solidarity of the May 18 Democratization Movement. Introduction to the Foundations Works Since its establishment, the May 18 Memorial Foundation has been conducting and expanding many projects to commemorate the spirit and struggle of the May 18 Democratization Movement, to eventually contribute to the peaceful reunification of Korea and to work towards peace and human rights throughout the world.
The Foundation has carried out numerous projects in various fields, including organizing commemoration events, granting scholarships, fostering research, disseminating relevant information to the public, publishing relevant materials, dispensing charity and welfare benefits, building international solidarity, and awarding the Gwangju Prize for Human Rights. Qualifications - English native - Holding a BA in communications, English, journalism, or a similar subject - Good command in Korean (both writing and speaking) - Good English writing skills (Accuracy, good in grammar and syntax) - Having at least 1 year experience in publication and/or editing - Interpersonal skills (should be able to work efficiently with others) - Computer literate (email/internet, web page, lay-out/design, etc.) - Adaptability of foreign cultures - Legally and physically able to travel overseas
Conditions of Service The employee; - will be under one year contract (will be preferred for a rehire based on her/his competency and performance) - will be obliged to carry out assigned tasks - must abide by the rules and regulations of the Foundation - work from 9 AM to 6 PM Monday through Friday - receives yearly paid vacation days by the Foundation’s regulations - is under the non-disclosure agreement - will be paid gross annual salary of 24,000,000 KRW
