May 18 Peace Ambassadors met with the GwangjuPrize for Human Rights winner of 2013 --- “H.I.J.O.S”
As the May 18 Memorial Foundation held theceremony of Gwangju Prize for Human Rights on 18th May, our Peace Ambassadorshad the lecture from the 2013 laureate before the award ceremony.
Mr. Kary Marcos and Ms. Parodi Julia fromH.I.J.O.S in Argentina introduced and explained their organization background andpurpose actively and thoroughly. The organization H.I.J.O.S (Hijos e Hijas porla Identiday y la Justicia contra el Olvido y el Silencio, which means ’Sonsand Daughters Fighting for Identify and Justice against Forgetting and Silence’)is an organization that fights for the defense of Human Rights. H.I.J.O.S iscomposed mainly by the sons and daughters of the people disappeared, executed,imprisoned by political reasons or forced to exile during the repression of themilitary dictatorship from 1976 to 1983. It is also formed by young people whoare interested in participating actively in the group by sharing theirobjectives and their political practices. The organization began theiractivities in April 1995 and present regional offices working in most of the provincesof Argentina, grouped in a National Network. (Red Nacional).
