The May 18 Memorial Foundation is now recruiting a foreign employee

to join its International Affairs Department

 


 

About the May 18 Memorial Foundation

The May 18 Memorial Foundation was established in 1994 with the funds of the May 18 victims, Gwangju citizens, overseas Koreans and Korean citizens in order to maintain democratic spirit and solidarity of the May 18 Democratic Uprising. For more information, please visit http://eng.518.org

 

Since its establishment, the May 18 Memorial Foundation has conducted many projects to commemorate the spirit of the May 18 Democratic Uprising, to contribute to peaceful reunification of Koreas, and to strengthen peace and human rights throughout the world.

 

The Foundation has carried out many projects in different fields, including organizing commemoration events, granting scholarships, fostering research, disseminating relevant information to the public, publishing relevant materials, building international solidarity, and awarding the Gwangju Prize for Human Rights. Deion of Job

- Creating May 18 related contents for the web and social media
- Managing & monitoring social media contents
- Managing DPHRW overseas desks and fact check teams
- Compiling DPHRW desks’ monthly reports and analysis them
- Arranging and managing a monthly Webina (Online Meeting) 
- Assisting his/her superior(s)
- Corresponding through email and social media with international partners

  

Qualifications

- Holding at least 2 years of NGO or social development work experiences

- A BA or higher degree (Degrees in human rights-related majors are preferred)

- Must be computer literate (email/internet, web page, lay-out/design, etc.)

- Adaptability of foreign cultures

- Should be legally and physically able to travel overseas

- Korean language skill is preferred

- Experience as a journalist is preferred

 

Conditions of Service

The employee;

- will be under one year contract

(will be preferred for a rehire based on her/his competency and performance)

- will be obliged to carry out assigned tasks

- must abide by the rules and regulations of the Foundation

- work from 9 AM to 6 PM Monday through Friday

- receives yearly paid vacation days by the Foundation’s regulations

- is under the non-disclosure agreement

Applicants should submit the following documentation:

- Completed application form [DOWNLOAD from the attachment]

- Curriculum Vitae

- A scanned copy of valid and not expired passport

- A write-up detailing expectations, objectives, and interest in this position (within two pages)

- A copy diploma/certificate of the highest academic institution

- Physical examination report (including TB test result)

- Proof(s) of employment and/or work experiences

Selection Process

- Application Deadline: 24.09.2020. (E-mail)

- First Screening Process, English Proficiency Interview: 25~29 September 2020 (will be notified individually)

- Final Results: 1st week of October, 2020 (Home-page Notice & will be notified individually)
